Freefall

You stand tall. Eyes closed, head tilted back. The sun beats down. A heat dry and unforgiving. The sweet scent of summer overtakes you, as if the earth was pouring itself to you as perfume. Your toes curl around the edge of the cliff. You hear pebbles slip down and ricochet off of the stone protrusions. You begin to lift your hands out to you sides. There you stand, a cross on the cliff. The wind swirls, the scents of life intensify. Freedom, true freedom. In an instant, faster than the beating of a hummingbird's wing, you leap forward. At first your chest is forward, catching the wind. The fall seems slow. After what seems like minutes you are head first. Clouds of white and grey pass by your face. All the while the intense smell of the world, the sheer freedom of the jump invigorate your mind. Now your shoulders are forward and you plummet faster than before. Your adrenaline spikes, and for the first time since leaving the cliff your eyes pop open. Water envelopes you. From your hands and feet trails of bubbles race to the surface. The light of day soon fades and you sink deeper. What was once bright and golden is replaced with a faint glow. Complete calm overtakes you.

You have just plunged into the depths of your mind. What you read was descriptive and lead you to a place but you filled in the gaps. There will be no snappy advice here, no complaining, or ranting. All you will find are brief breaks from reality, taking you to different places and times. So just sit back, relax, and visualize.
